Structured Residential Treatment for Adolescents

AFLH provides a structured residential treatment program for adolescents experiencing significant mental health and behavioral health challenges.

Our program integrates therapeutic intervention, licensed clinical supervision, and daily structure within a safe residential setting. Youth receive coordinated behavioral health services designed to promote stabilization, emotional regulation, skill development, and long-term functional improvement.

We serve adolescents who require a higher level of care than outpatient services but do not require inpatient hospitalization.

POPULATION SERVED

Our adolescent residential treatment program serves youth who may present with:

• Mood disorders
• Anxiety disorders
• Trauma related conditions
• Behavioral dysregulation
• Co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns
• Functional impairment impacting home, school, or community stability

All admissions are reviewed for clinical appropriateness to ensure the program can safely and effectively meet the needs of the youth.

TREATMENT APPROACH

AFLH utilizes a structured, trauma informed framework that emphasizes accountability, therapeutic engagement, and skill development.

Core Components Include:

• Comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment
• Individualized treatment planning
• Individual therapy
• Group therapy
• Case management and care coordination
• Medication management when applicable
• Behavioral interventions and skill building
• Family involvement and communication

Treatment plans are reviewed and updated based on measurable progress and clinical outcomes.

Clinical services are delivered in accordance with Ohio licensing standards and CARF accreditation requirements.

CLINICAL SUPERVISION & TEAM

Clinical and residential functions maintain appropriate independence while collaborating to ensure continuity of care, safety, and measurable outcomes.

All staff receive training in crisis intervention, trauma informed care, health and safety procedures, and youth specific behavioral protocols.

DAILY STRUCTURE & ACCOUNTABILITY

Adolescents participate in a consistent daily schedule that supports therapeutic engagement and personal responsibility.

The structured environment includes:

• Supervised routines
• Designated therapeutic programming
• Educational coordination as applicable
• Life skills development
• Behavioral accountability
• Supervised recreational activities

Clear expectations and consistent structure promote stability and skill acquisition.

SAFETY & EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

Safety is a foundational component of our program.

AFLH maintains written emergency procedures for fire, natural disasters, medical emergencies, violent situations, and other critical incidents. Staff are trained in crisis response, de escalation techniques, and supervision protocols appropriate for adolescents.

Critical incidents are documented, reviewed, and incorporated into quality improvement processes.

FAMILY COMMUNICATION & INVOLVEMENT

Family engagement is encouraged throughout the course of treatment.

When clinically appropriate, families may participate in:

• Treatment planning updates
• Progress reviews
• Discharge planning coordination
• Communication with clinical staff

Our goal is to support successful reintegration and long term stability beyond residential care.

ADMISSION & ELIGIBILITY

Admission to the adolescent residential treatment program is based on clinical appropriateness and level of care needs.

Youth must:

• Demonstrate behavioral health needs requiring structured residential treatment
